Congratulations to Nolan Bair, a junior in Drexel University’s Construction Management program. Nolan received the first ever GBCA Scholarship through the AGC Education & Research Foundation, awarded at AGC’s Convention a few weeks back.

Nolan is originally from Lancaster, PA, and is currently a junior at Drexel. He became interested in Construction Management through the ACE Mentor program in high school, which his CAD teacher recommended he join. Nolan always knew he wanted to do something involving construction, but wasn’t sure what role until attending the ACE Mentor program his junior year of high school. Through the ACE Mentor program, Nolan learned about all the different kinds of construction professionals, and became interested project management and estimating.

His first co-op was with Allan Myers in Maryland working on the $90 million Baltimore-Washington International Airport project as a project engineer intern in the spring/summer of 2015. Last summer Nolan worked for Utility Line Services in Conshohocken, PA as an assistant supervisor/assistant project manager. In April Nolan will begin working on his last co-op at IMC Construction in Malvern, PA, as an assistant estimator. After graduation in June 2018 he hopes to work for a small to mid-size general contractor in either civil or commercial field in the Philadelphia area. Nolan plans to use his co-op experiences to help decide what sort of role he wants to work in, and hopes to obtain a position as a project manager or estimator.

Congratulations, Nolan! GBCA wishes you all the best!
