Director of Business Development

We are seeking a Director of Business Development with extensive experience (7+ years preferred) managing and building new client relationships and expanding market opportunities across the Philadelphia region. Candidate must have business knowledge of the construction industry, with a proven ability to identify and develop relationships to generate new business opportunities in the life-science, healthcare, higher education, multi-family, and hospitality markets.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Lead business development and marketing activities, partnering with senior leadership to develop and manage the execution of the strategic sales goals and business objectives
  • Generate new sales leads and build profitable relationships with decision makers at companies and organizations
  • Coordinate and manage proposals and interviews with internal marketing, estimating, project management, and leadership teams
  • Attend trade shows and other associations’ meetings to stay abreast of market conditions, competition, and develop relationships with prospective and existing clients
  • Use CRM software such as PipelineDeals to track contacts, communications, and opportunities

Senior Estimator

We are seeking a Senior Estimator with extensive experience (10+ years preferred) in the commercial construction industry. The position is based in Philadelphia and the candidate must have a proven ability to not only complete estimates, but to provide full preconstruction services to clients and design professionals.

Attributes of a qualified candidate:

Leadership

  • Lead the pricing effort on small, medium and large projects. The Senior Estimator has overall responsibility for running the estimate sheet, analyzing subcontractor pricing, formulating the right price, delegating responsibility as needed for the effort and meeting the deadlines. Coordinate team efforts including sub outreach, take offs, scope development, pricing detail, and RFI management.

Broad Network

  •  Should have a broad network of owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and industry contacts. Industry involvement is a plus.

Know What Things Cost

  • Know alternatives for materials, finishes, structural, façade and MEP systems, and what they might cost in a typical building. Able to conceptually estimate.

A Credible Builder

  • Seen enough examples through job visits, presentations, industry work that you walk the walk and talk the talk.

Be Inquisitive

  • Innate ability to drill down to see if the estimate has the right value for the work. Learn to identify premium designs. Ask questions. Learn.

Be Conscious of Risk and Rewards

  • Our goal is to have happy customers, deliver high quality, and to make money. Must understand when subs are wrong/too low, and take reasonable risks, but not unreasonable risks for the fees we ask.

How Long Will it Take to Build

  • Understand basics of schedule to ballpark the length of the job.  Use MS Project as needed. P6 not necessary.

Team Player

  • Active participant with the owner, design team, project management, scheduling, marketing, subcontractors, and the management team as needed to effectively provide preconstruction services.

Knowledge of Estimating Systems

  • Building Connected, BlueBeam, Excel/Word.
