NAWIC Philadelphia Chapter 145 and WINC (Women in Nontraditional Careers) are asking women in the tri-state area to complete a quick survey about wearing PPE in the field. This survey will provide critical knowledge identifying the gaps in PPE for women, and women’s safety needs on construction jobsites.

Safety research has recently been criticized for ignoring women. By not considering women’s bodies in research, many products, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), often do not protect women effectively. Most PPE is based on the sizes and characteristics of male populations from Europe and the US. Employers sometimes think that they simply need to give female workers smaller sizes for PPE, which usually leads to ill-fitting, less effective, and potentially hazardous PPE for women.

This survey will take only about 5 minutes to complete and submit. The survey will be open until March 31, 2021.
