The Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR) recently released a study that showed that the number of elevator-related incidents on construction sites increased from 2003 to 2016, and the number of fatalities from these incidents has doubled, from 14 to 28, with a peak of 37 in 2015.

The majority of these incidents are from falls, but also include caught-in, struck-by, or electrocution incidents. Workers with less than 1 year of experience made up almost half of elevator-related injuries.

Many of the incidents were due to lack of safety precautions on the job sites. In particular, fall protection was noted as a priority for preventing most elevator-related incidents.
