"It was some of the best training I have ever attended. In my opinion, for anyone who wants to become a leading safety professional in our industry, this is a great way to get started.”

The University of Delaware offers intensive occupational safety training programs taught by Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainers. Currently, there are three main safety programs—COSS, COSM, and Safe Supervisor—and there are plans for more in the future.

UD’s Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS) course and Certificate for Occupational Safety Managers (COSM) course are designed for entry-level safety professionals and experienced safety practitioners wishing to stay current in the field. The Safe Supervisor course enhances a supervisor’s understanding of the bigger picture of safety and his or her role in creating a safer work environment. UD also offers all levels of Hazwoper training.

The 2019 COSS, COSM, and Safety Leadership and Planning training dates are as follows:

Certified Occupational Safety Specialist (COSS)

  • April 8-12, 2019
  • August 5-9, 2019
  • October 21-25, 2019

Certificate for Occupational Safety Managers (COSM)

  • September 30-October 4, 2019

Safety Leadership and Planning: Enhancing Human Performance in the Workplace
